LATIN NAME: Thymus vulgaris.
SOURCE: Steam distilled flowering herb.
COLOUR: Clear, pale yellow with a green-red tint.
ORIGIN: Spain
TYPE: Thymol
AROMA: Warm, spicy, piercing, sweet and pungent, characteristic of the fresh herb.

Energising and strengthening. A Powerful oil high in Thymol ( ~37%). Use this one with extra caution, and only in low dilution's. <1%. Thyme is very anti viral and a powerful killer of germs, an obvious choice to vaporise especially during the winter.

Dilute 0.5% in carrier.

Thyme is an energising and strengthening oil and will help you to focus, especially useful for those who tend to be a bit dreamy, or if returning to work after a long vacation.

It has a long history of use and can be traced back to the times of the Pharaohs, where it was employed during the embalming process. Thyme was also used extensively to fumigate; the name is derived from the Greek word thymos - to perfume.

Thyme also enjoys a long association with the culinary arts, where it was and still is employed as a flavouring and was also used to slow down putrefication. The proliferation of bacteria was slowed down and the broth was prevented from going bad for three days.

You may find adding Thyme linalool 0.5% to a 30ml bottle of Eucalyptus and spraying the air at the walls around you, but leaving the room for a couple minutes before reentering; so the oil doesn't get in the eyes, helpful.
