Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanoides) is a herbaceous plant in the grass family. Native to India, it is cultivated in many countries in Asia, South America, and Africa. An essential oil is extracted from its roots, which is used in natural incense.

Effects / why?

Vetiver essential oil is invigorating for blood circulation, digestive glands, and the immune system. In the context of incense use, we can cite its insect repellent and mental tonic properties. It stimulates willpower and restores courage.

History of this incense

A paste of wood and plant powder is worked by hand. It contains a high proportion of rhizomes powder and vetiver essential oil. A ball of this paste is wrapped around a bamboo stick. This is done in a single gesture of both hands, very "technical". It takes many months to acquire the necessary know-how, especially for long sticks. This is a job that is done either in workshops or at home. Some villages specialize in this work. The spread of machines puts pressure on this profession, which employs hundreds of thousands of people in India, including many women. The production of this collection of incense is done in a very ethical way for producers (fair trade), the environment (charter), and consumers (100% natural composition, controlled by chromatography and authenticated by a European certification body).

- Mineral origin: rocks and pigments extracted by mechanical means or by the action of heat.

- Animal origin: only products obtained without cruelty (honey).
