About the Plant

Helichrysum belongs to the daisy family (“Asteracea”) and includes more than 600 species. Its most important and best-known representative is “Helichrysum italicum”, commonly known as immortelle or “straw flower”. It is native to the Mediterranean. The plant can reach a height of 30 – 60 cm and is characterized by its small, yellow, button-like flowers, which exude a warm, spicy scent.

Symbolically, the immortelle stands for immortality and eternal beauty, which is based on the long-lasting color and shape of its flowers. It is often used in flower arrangements and wreaths to underline its symbolic meaning.

Immortelle is known for its blood-purifying, antispasmodic, skin-regenerating, anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

The immortelle macerate is produced by macerating the plant, especially the flower heads, in sunflower oil.
